Mark F. Morissette, MSW, PhD Registered Clinical Counsellor |
|
Dr. Mark Morissette is an experienced couple and family therapist who
has counselled individuals, their partners and their families for over
25 years. He is continually impressed by the capacity that people
possess for bringing about change in their lives with one another. His
clinical orientation to his work lies in helping people uncover
solutions to resolving the personal and professional impasses facing them. He is a registered clinical counsellor. He holds a bachelor, masters and doctoral degree in clinical social work, and he has completed advanced training in marriage and family therapy. He has worked extensively in clinical agencies and professional organizations, often in directing and consultative roles - helping to bring about substantive changes and culture shifts in these organizations. In addition, he has taught on the clinical faculties of a number of Universities and Institutes in Canada and the US. The therapeutic process is, in his experience, key to helping clients effectively address emotional and relational patterns in their lives, and learn to respond differently to their critical life situations. Similarly, organizations need to be emotionally intelligent if they are to thrive in the work they do and therefore he believes consultative practice is essential in helping organizations and individuals succeed in their work. He views his role as both a therapist and consultant as being crucial to helping identify the resources necessary to exploring new possibilities for change. Leading a more balanced and integrated life, and learning to live both fully and mindfully, is the overarching purpose of engaging in therapeutic work. He believes everything that happens in life points us toward this process. Human experience is all about learning and therapy itself is about supporting the learning process in individuals as well as the systems to which they belong. Change begins with oneself and therapy is focused on the self. There is no more important work than that which leads toward living a more informed, ultimately more fulfilled life.
